Water is important in all areas of health, from dropping a few pounds to help with digestive issues. Water also happens to be terrific for great looking skin. If you have adult acne, drinking water for skin care is a must.

Drinking More Water is Important

Did you know that drinking water can help to open up the pores on your face? When you don’t drink enough water, your skin becomes dehydrated. Over time, this can cause the pores to tighten.

As a result, this causes dirt and dead skin cells to get trapped in the pores. That is why you end up with small red pimples all over your face.

In order to keep the pores clean, you need those pores to be open. One way to do that is by drinking water to hydrate the skin.

One way to get more water into your body is to increase your water intake. You should, however, keep track of how much you are actually drinking every day.

Water Prevents Dry Skin as You Age

As we get older we may experience all sorts of skin conditions including running the risk of acne. With age comes dry skin, so if you are dehydrated, the problem only gets worse.

It becomes important to get at least sixty-four ounces of water every day. There are some recommendations that suggest having even more water daily. You might want to consider this formula: drink water based on half your body weight in ounces.

So if you weight 160 pounds, that means you should actually be drinking 80 ounces of water a day, which is about ten eight ounces glasses.

Tips For Drinking More Water

Now that you know the importance of drinking water for skin care on a daily basis, it can be difficult in the beginning to get enough water.

Here are some useful tips that will help you drink the minimum amount of water each day:

Keep track of how much water you drink. It is really easy to lose track of how much water you are drinking if you don’t track.

If you want a bottle that is a little more high tech, there are water bottles you can buy that comes with the prerequisite bands.

Another way to keep track of your water intake is to write it down. You can either carry around a small notebook or use the note app on your phone or tablet.

To make your water drinking more enjoyable, use your favorite glass. If you enjoy using the glass you are more apt to drink your water.

If you can’t stand the taste of plain water, add some fresh or frozen fruit. Or, just add a slice of lemon. A sprig of mint is also a good addition to plain water.

You might also want to consider reducing or cutting out soft drinks or beverages with cream and sugar.

The less you drink of these beverages the more likely you are to drink water.
